Schneider Electric has introduced an updated version of its Charge Pro Level 2 commercial electric vehicle charger for fleet operations, workplaces, multi-unit dwellings and public and destination charging sites.
The charger combines hardware, charging management software and support services intended to simplify installation and ongoing operation as organizations expand their charging networks.
Charge Pro includes EV Connect Software+, a cloud-based charging station management system that allows owners and operators to remotely monitor chargers, manage access, track usage and support drivers across multiple locations. One year of the software service is included when the charger is activated.
The offering also includes proactive monitoring, driver support and a five-year hardware warranty. Schneider Electric said the combination is intended to reduce maintenance requirements, improve charger availability and help lower the total cost of ownership.
Charge Pro is available with J1772 and North American Charging Standard connectors. Configurations of up to 80 amps are available to support different vehicles and charging requirements.
The updated charger also includes a simplified commissioning process intended to reduce installation and setup time. Drivers can initiate a charging session by scanning a QR code without downloading an application or establishing an account.
Schneider Electric said the system was developed using the company’s cybersecurity practices to help protect charging operations and data.
The charger is designed to connect with Schneider Electric’s broader electrical infrastructure and energy management offerings. These include panelboards, switchgear and circuit protection equipment used in commercial EV charging installations.
Integrating charging equipment with a site’s electrical infrastructure can help operators monitor power demand, balance loads and use available electrical capacity as the number of chargers or vehicles increases, according to the company.
Schneider Electric is also working with certified installation partners, including Qmerit, to support charger deployment and infrastructure expansion.
