While GreenPath Logistics, a full-service truckload carrier based in Dallas, is a relatively new player to the market, the fleet has developed an innovative business model focused on sustainability. With Trillium as its alternative fuel provider, GreenPath is exceeding the needs of its growing client list.

Reducing Waste from the Start

Before managing GreenPath’s growing fleet of 100 Class 7 and 8 natural gas vehicles, GreenPath’s Executive Vice President Mike Sullivan oversaw more than 2,500 diesel vehicles in a traditional fleet. Over the years, Sullivan experienced everything from maintenance issues with diesel exhaust fluid and regen systems, to the unforeseen repairs necessary to maintain an aging fleet.

To build out its growing fleet, GreenPath refurbishes a mix of traditional diesel and older natural gas box trucks and tractors with newer natural gas systems. By revamping older vehicles and making them like-new, the company is reducing waste and eliminating the need to scrap old vehicles and equipment. This game plan has improved the company’s bottom line as well as its carbon footprint and offered its clients an immediate path to emission reductions.

GreenPath was founded to help its customers meet their sustainability goals and reduce the carbon footprint of their supply chains.

Providing Customers with a Sustainable Solution

From the beginning, GreenPath was founded to help its corporate customers meet their sustainability goals and reduce the carbon footprint of their supply chains in a cost-effective way. The regional trucking services provider uses only natural gas vehicles for their fleet, which includes dedicated truckload, dry van, flat bed, expedite and lift gate services.

With some of the largest retailers on their growing client list, GreenPath offers these corporate giants exactly what they were looking for—a path to immediate and significant emission reductions. By fueling its natural gas fleet via Trillium’s network of CNG stations, GreenPath is reducing emissions for its clients’ supply chains, and in return, receiving more dedicated freight business from satisfied clients.

In weekly calls, GreenPath walks clients through the emissions savings they experience as a result of using natural gas vehicles.

In weekly client calls, GreenPath can “show them the numbers”—walking clients through the emissions savings they experience as a result of using natural gas vehicles. Sharing the fleet’s emission reductions progress is a huge focus for GreenPath’s customers and something the carrier always delivers.

Delivering Future Emission Reductions

With Trillium’s continued support and partnership, the fleet is moving to an even more sustainable fueling option—renewable natural gas (RNG). GreenPath’s plans include sourcing low-carbon RNG, a fuel that will provide significantly more emission-reduction benefits to its sustainably minded corporate customers. These companies have been searching for ways to reduce emissions throughout their supply chain and GreenPath’s transportation solutions are helping them reach, and even exceed, their ambitious sustainability goals.

Benefits Beyond Emission Reductions

And while GreenPath operates in a 250-mile radius covering Oklahoma, Northern Louisiana and the Lone Star state, Trillium’s network of CNG stations has the carrier covered. According to GreenPath, not just knowing how to fuel, but knowing where you’re going to fuel is key.

Fueling through Trillium enables GreenPath to see prices on par with diesel and with much less price volatility. While Trillium is solely focused on alternative fuels, the only thing they “borrow” from diesel is the familiar, fast and easy fueling experience that many of GreenPath’s drivers are used to.

By operating a fleet of clean and efficient natural gas vehicles, GreenPath avoids the costly and unpredictable repairs and maintenance expenses that go together with an aging diesel fleet. Sullivan is no longer surprised by major repairs that became the norm with an older diesel fleet.

Finding a Transparent Fueling Partner

When looking for a fueler, it was important that GreenPath found a partner that values and understands its long-term business goals and sustainability priorities. This alignment has resulted in simple and straightforward communications, making for an ideal business relationship. Transparent pricing, ease of fueling and Trillium’s commitment to natural gas has made GreenPath’s decision to partner with Trillium an easy one. Couple Trillium’s CNG station expertise with the network and array of highway products and services for professional drivers available through parent company Love’s Travel Stops, and Trillium customers receive a market-leading resource for fleets currently operating, or considering, natural gas vehicles.

“When I say they make it easy to do business, I mean it,” says Sullivan, adding, “We have enough to focus on besides worrying about the relationship with our fueler.”
