Fast Company has named PlusAI’s SuperDrive to its 2026 World Changing Ideas list, recognizing the company’s Level 4 autonomous driving system for commercial trucks as the freight industry continues to move autonomous trucking technology closer to commercial deployment.
The recognition places SuperDrive among 191 projects selected by Fast Company for their impact, sustainability, design, creativity, scalability, and ability to improve society. For PlusAI, the award comes as the company positions its autonomous trucking platform around factory-built autonomous trucks, real-world freight operations, and a planned commercial launch beginning in 2027.
“We are honored by this recognition from Fast Company for the progress we have made in moving autonomous trucking from breakthrough technology to commercial reality,” said David Liu, CEO and co-founder of PlusAI. “After more than a decade of development, we have reached an industry inflection point where autonomous trucks are beginning to show their potential to improve road safety, strengthen supply chains, and address driver shortages.”
Liu said PlusAI is focused on expanding the global impact of SuperDrive with partners including Scania, MAN and International of the TRATON GROUP, Iveco Group, and Hyundai Motor Company. He added that the company’s focus is now on “the large-scale deployment of factory-built autonomous trucks starting in 2027.”
SuperDrive is already being deployed, with the company running autonomous fleet trials in Texas with International, placing factory-integrated autonomous trucks powered by SuperDrive into real freight operations for Ryder. The trials have consistently delivered loads on schedule, achieving a 100% on-time delivery rate.
In Europe, PlusAI and IVECO are advancing Southern Europe’s first autonomous trucking program with Spanish logistics operator Sesé.
Over the past six months, PlusAI said it has continued to build the technology, safety, and operational foundations needed for commercial deployment. Those steps include the release of SuperDrive 6.0, which added capabilities such as nighttime driving and construction zone handling; a collaboration with NVIDIA focused on AI reasoning, hardware-level integration, and safety; and four internationally recognized ISO certifications covering quality management, cybersecurity, functional safety, and information security.
PlusAI also reported progress in its commercial readiness metrics, including reaching 90.1% Safety Case Readiness as of the end of 2025. The company said its goal is to reach 100% to enable commercial driverless operations.
