Kodiak AI and Verizon Business have entered into a commercial agreement to support autonomous trucking operations using Verizon’s connectivity and Internet of Things capabilities.
Under the agreement, Verizon Business will provide 5G telematics and ThingSpace IoT management solutions to Kodiak AI’s autonomous vehicle platform. The connectivity will support Kodiak’s driverless trucking operations by enabling large-scale data management across its fleet.
Kodiak AI’s autonomous technology includes an AI-powered virtual driver designed for use in long-haul, industrial, and defense trucking applications. Verizon will deliver low-latency, reliable connectivity through customized 5G and LTE service plans, supporting real-time communication and over-the-air software updates between vehicles and operations centers.
The collaboration also supports Kodiak’s Assisted Autonomy approach, which allows remote operators to assist autonomous trucks in specific scenarios using camera and sensor data transmitted from the vehicle. Verizon’s network enables the transfer of this data to support those operations.
Verizon’s ThingSpace IoT platform will allow Kodiak’s teams to monitor and manage connectivity across its autonomous fleet, providing centralized visibility into data usage and network performance.
Kodiak AI founder and CEO Don Burnette said the agreement supports the company’s goal of enabling 24/7 driverless operations and scaling autonomous services safely. Daniel Lawson, senior vice president at Verizon Business, said the collaboration highlights how advanced connectivity and data services can support AI-powered mobility solutions.
The agreement reflects ongoing efforts to integrate connectivity, data management, and autonomous vehicle technology to support the development of connected trucking operations.
