Pilot Company has announced a partnership with Tesla to develop a network of charging locations designed specifically for the Tesla Semi, marking a new step in the build-out of infrastructure for heavy-duty electric trucks.
Under the agreement, Tesla will install Semi Chargers at select Pilot and Flying J travel center locations across the U.S. The companies said the chargers will be located along key freight corridors, with the goal of supporting long-haul and regional fleet operations.
The charging sites will feature four to eight charging stalls per location and use Tesla’s V4 cabinet technology, which is capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts of power. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the first locations anticipated to open later that year.
Pilot said the partnership builds on its broader strategy to support multiple energy pathways for commercial transportation. The company noted that its travel center network already offers alternative fuels and services tailored to fleet customers.
According to Pilot, the initial focus of the charging network will be to support Tesla Semi trucks, with the potential for broader applications over time.
