Key Takeaways

  • Battery-integrated charging: The Orange Juicer pairs stationary battery storage with DC fast charging to deliver reliable, high-power charging for fleets.
  • Grid-friendly solution: By storing energy on-site, the system reduces strain on the grid, mitigates demand charges, and helps avoid costly utility upgrades.
  • Heavy-duty focus: Designed for medium- and heavy-duty fleets, the charger supports fast, scalable electrification beyond Orange EV’s own terminal trucks.
  • Energy resilience: The system is compatible with renewable sources like solar, offering fleets both cost savings and improved sustainability.

Electric truck manufacturer Orange EV has partnered with OptiGrid to launch the Orange Juicer, a new battery-integrated DC fast charging solution designed to accelerate fleet electrification.

The Orange Juicer combines OptiGrid’s advanced battery integration technology with Orange EV’s expertise in electric terminal trucks. The system pairs stationary battery storage with DC fast charging, helping fleets reduce charging costs, manage grid constraints, and ensure reliable uptime.

According to the companies, the Orange Juicer provides megawatt-level charging capacity while helping fleets mitigate demand charges and avoid expensive grid upgrades. By storing energy on-site, fleets can charge multiple vehicles quickly, even during times of high utility demand, without straining the grid.

“As more customers accelerate adoption of Orange EV trucks and electrify other site equipment, we’ve seen infrastructure upgrades cause serious holdups,” said Kurt Neutgens, co-founder and president of Orange EV. “The Orange Juicer solves that challenge, giving fleets a fast, scalable, and cost-effective charging platform that utilizes existing on-site power.”

Orange EV and OptiGrid emphasized that the solution was developed specifically for heavy-duty fleet operations. The companies highlighted its potential to serve not just Orange EV’s terminal trucks, but also a wide range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles.

The launch marks the latest step in Orange EV’s effort to provide comprehensive electrification solutions. Already a leading supplier of electric yard trucks, the company has now expanded its focus to charging infrastructure, offering fleets more tools to transition smoothly to zero-emission operations.

“Fleet operators are tired of waiting on infrastructure that doesn’t match their electrification schedule,” said Tyler Phillipi, CEO of OptiGrid. “The Orange Juicer gives them the power to deploy today, with charging performance that rivals high-capacity systems but requires just a fraction of the grid input.”

OptiGrid added that the technology can reduce operating costs while improving energy resilience, noting the system’s ability to integrate with renewable generation sources like solar.
