Einride announced a series of milestones this past week that mark significant progress in its effort to scale autonomous electric trucking. The Swedish freight technology company said its cabless electric vehicle successfully completed the world’s first fully autonomous cross-border delivery from Sweden into Norway, integrated with digital customs systems at the Ørje checkpoint. The crossing was conducted under the EU-backed MODI project, with Einride’s full stack of vehicle hardware, autonomous software, and remote operations platform in use.
In a separate announcement, Einride confirmed that it operated a cabless autonomous truck on a public road in Belgium’s Port of Antwerp-Bruges region, permitted under the country’s pilot framework for automated vehicles. The demonstration took place in one of Europe’s most complex logistics environments, where the company emphasized its platform’s ability to manage operations safely under real-world conditions.
Alongside these demonstrations, Einride disclosed new funding to accelerate deployment. Media reports place the latest raise at around $100 million, adding to the more than $650 million already secured to scale technology, infrastructure, and operations.
Company leaders said the recent progress underscores their goal of moving autonomy out of controlled test zones and into practical logistics corridors. Regulatory, technical, and infrastructure challenges remain, but the announcements highlight Einride’s strategy of combining vehicles, charging networks, and fleet management software into an integrated freight platform.
